How to sign a book is obvious, right? Well yes, mostly. But it’s surprising what things a newbie author can overlook. Having carried out school visits and book signings this week for my children’s novel, ‘Bob and the Alien Escapade’, the topic is at the front of my mind, so I thought I’d share with you some words of advice on the basics of a successful book signing.
To ensure that people know about the event, it’s important to publicise it early and to the right people. Although social media is great for mass coverage, don’t forget the old-fashioned, local methods too. Putting posters up in libraries and bookshops, informing local book clubs and special interest groups and getting some press and radio coverage are all excellent and inexpensive ways of generating a bit of buzz.
